Studdsville Specialty Vehicles gave our department an early Christmas present.
The new Heavy Rescue was delivered today.
It was a long journey for the truck, because it started life in Södertälje in Sweden as a Scania R730 V8 Euro 6 10x4 truck.
It was then shipped to Studdsville.
SSV changed the cab to the Torpedo type, first the cab was placed further back on the chassis, and with molds from a donor truck, SSV made a hood and plating to enclose the engine and front of the truck, also a compartment behind the cab was constructed which houses the fuel and hydraulic tanks aswell as a generator.
When completed, the rig was thoroughly tested to make sure the rig still preformed as it should.
Then the rig got its Scania T markings and was from then on a Scania T730 V8 Euro 6 10x4 truck.
The rig was then transported to Miller industries, and the rig got a Century 1075S Rotator body and a crane with a 75 ton lifting capacity.
When the body was finished and tested, the rig was driven back to SSV, where it got its emergency lighting, sirens, extra lighting and safety and monitoring systems.
The rig was then brought to Creekside Towing where the rig was put through its paces, and passed with flying colors.
The first crews are being trained by Creekside at the moment, and the rig will be in sevice by the end of the year.
Thanks to SSV, Creekside, Miller Industries and Scania for their hard work.
