The 2001 Oshkosh TI-3000 is former US Navy, but after an engine fire it was written off.
SSV bought the "wreck" and towed it to their refurbishing plant and used it to reverse engineer it under Oshkosh guidance to help the design for their Tiger model ARFF trucks.
After that the rig was towed to the SSV back lot waiting to be disposed.
But After our department was looking for a 3rd ARFF rig when a 3rd Tiger was too expensive.
So the TI-3000 was towed back to the refurbishment plant and inspected for a remanufacturing process, making the rig as good as new.
In the last months the rig was stripped down, its Detroit Diesel engine deemed to be beyond repair and was replaced by a 520HP DC16 engine from Scania, the engine compartment, water and foam tanks, plumbing and rear axle were rebuilt, lighting was replaced with high intensity LED lights and the rig was made capable of discharging purple K dry chemical powder.
The specs are the same as the original rig, 2000/3000W/420F, except for a 500 pound purple K system.
