Today the Chief announced that the department has bought a 2009 International with a ambulance body.
This rig will be delivered in the next few days and will be overhauled and refurbished by the motorpool. When ready the ambulance will go to work as the Suicide prevention unit, and ill respond to every Suicide call in the city as first responder, and as a backup unit to the other members of the program. Also it will be used as a secondary Rescue unit and as a first responder for medical calls, if all rigs are busy with other jobs. Also today Chief Kontoules updated the Suicide risk meter, so we will do so too. So check the SPU page for more info. Todat a few new vehicles where added to the Department.
First the Chief got a brand new Dodge Charger as a duty vehicle. Second the fire Marshal's office lifted on a state wide buy of new Fire Marshal vehicles so all Fire Marshals have the same equipment and can work together better in arson cases. So SVFD's Fire Marshal recieved a Ford F-350 Wagon, with wull LED lighting and a hydraulic ramp for a slide out toolbox in the rear. And the former Fire Marshals truck a 2010 Dodge RAM 2500 went to Battalion 2 to be used by the Battalion Chief. The 2 Chevy Impalas of the Chief and Battalion Chief 2 will be stripped of their lighting and gear, and will be sold at a city auction, and the profits will go to the Burn Victims fund. See the apparatus page for pics. Earlier this morning the SPT had to handle a suicide.
More info and details on the incident page. Ladder 14 was involved in an MVA, but luckily no injuries.
More info on the incidents page. I overhauled the site, added more info and pages.
And new pics of the rigs. A memorial page had been added, to honor and respect the men and women who gave their all to save a stranger.
Good news from the city motorpool,
both Wildland rigs passed their acceptance tests. So the rigs will be fully geared up and starting tomorrow they will be in service. Apparatus page is updated! Today an agreement was signed at White Ridge Fire & Rescue HQ, for Mutual aid and for the Suicide Prevention and Intervention Task Force.
After a dramatic suicide attempt by a teen earlier this month, SVFD decieded to join White Ridge Fire and Rescue in the SPT. All members of SVFD will be trained to handle with Suicide calls. Also Rescue 5 and Rescue 6 are now able to go to the participating departments to assist with Suicide calls. Rescue 5 will be used as a Mass Casualty Unit and Rescue 6 is going as a Water Rescue/ Recovery unit. For more Info visit WRFR's website or the Suicide prevention page here. I want to thank James K. for this chance, and we all hope we dont have to call upon eachother often. Wildland 33 and 34 have arrived, and are now in shop for last tests and stickering.
Tomorrow they will have the acceptance tests. Stay tuned tomorrow for pics. |
