While the first due units for a box alarm were en-route, Battalion Chief Robertson issued a first alarm assignment, bringing extra units to the scene.
On scene it was clear that all residents had left the building safely, a interior attack was started, but the flames were already venting out of the upper windows and roof, with the danger of the fire spreading BC Robertson upgraded to a second alarm.
The interior crews were pulled back when the roof partially collapsed and the fire began to grow more intense.
With the monitors on the ladders and the squad, the fire was drowned, and interior ops could resume.
3 hours after the box alarm, overhaul started and by 7:15 pm all units were back in service.
Fire crews could succesfully keep the fire under control so there was minimal damage to the surrounding structures.
The combined SVFD/SVPD Arson Division has the fire under investigation.
